Aviso n.º 159/2008 Por ordem superior se torna público ter o Governo do Chipre efectuado, junto do Secretário -Geral das Nações Unidas, em 5 de Agosto de 2003, uma objecção à reserva formulada pela Turquia no momento da ratificação da Convenção Internacional sobre a Eliminação de Todas as Formas de Discriminação Racial.

Notificação «The Secretary -General of the United Nations, ac- ting in his capacity as depositary, communicates the following: The above action was effected on 5 August 2003. The Government of the Republic of Cyprus has exa- mined the declaration made by the Government of the Republic of Turkey to the International Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination (New York, 7 March 1966) on 16 September 2002 in respect of the implementation of the provisions of the Convention only to the States Parties with which it has diplomatic relations.

In the view of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, this declaration amounts to a reservation.

This reservation creates uncertainty as to the States Parties in respect of which Turkey is undertaking the obligations in the Convention.

The Government of the Republic of Cyprus therefore objects to the reservation made by the Government of the Republic of Turkey.

This reservation or the objection to it shall not pre- clude the entry into force of the Convention between the Republic of Cyprus and the Republic of Turkey. 19 August 2003.» Tradução O Secretário -Geral da Organização das Nações Uni- das, agindo na sua qualidade de depositário, comunica o seguinte: A acção acima referida foi efectuada em 5 de Agosto de 2003.
