Aviso Por ordem superior se torna público que no dia 30 de Junho de 197 foi celebrado em Lisboa um Acordo por troca de Notas entre os Governos de Portugal e da Finlândia, pelo qual fica sujeita temporariamente a especial vigilância a exportação de certos artigos têxteis para aquele país e cujo texto em inglês e respectiva tradução acompanham o presente aviso.

Sir: 1. After consultations which have taken place in Lisbon between Finnish and Portuguese delegations on June 6-8, 1977, the following has been agreed upon: 2. After a review of the recent developments in the trade in textiles and clothing industry products bet-wen the two countries, the Finnish delegation expressed its view on the importance of maintaining an orderly development of imports in the textile and clothing sector.

  1. It was agreed that the exports from Portugal into Finland of the products defined in the annex would be subject to special surveillance. The surveillance period commences on July 1, 1977 and terminates on June 30, 1978.

  2. If the imports into Finland of any of the products originating in Portugal and listed in the annex reach 75 per cent of the indicative level set out for that product, the Portuguese Government will within 30 days after receipt of a request from the Finnish Government enter into consultations in order to arrive at a mutually satisfactory solution.

  3. Should the imports from Portugal into Finland of textile and clothing products other than those listed in the annex develop in a manner which might cause difficulties to domestic producers in Finland, the Portuguese Government will respond to a request for consultations from the Finnish Government within 30 days and will enter into consultations within 60 days after the receipt of the request in order to arrive at a mutually satisfactory solution.

  4. Should there during the surveillance period arise problems related to imports from Portugal of the products listed in the annex, Portugal is prepared to enter into consultations within 30 days after receipt of a request to that effect.

  5. The Finnish Delegation expressed its concern about the development of imports from Portugal of knitted shirts falling under heading 60.04.

  6. In order to facilitate the implementation of the special surveillance of the trade in the products listed in the annex, the Finish and the Portuguese Authorities will supply each other with the relevant statistics on a monthly basis.
